Night School: Genesis (Cimmeria Academy)

I just finished Night School Genesis by C.J. Daugherty.  It was recommended on Amazon because I had read a book similar to it and at the time it was free so I figured why not.  I gave this book 3 out of 5 stars.

Let’s start with the bad of which there are not many, but big enough ones to make me dock some stars. My first and biggest issue with the book was that it seemed to just drag on and on going nowhere.  I may very well have missed some important part in the story however I honestly don’t remember reading anywhere explaining why certain events were happening.  Big events kept happening and over and over again I wanted to know WHY?!?  It was about 2/3 of the way through the book before any information was given and even that was bare minimum.  It was very confusing and I was not a fan.  Honestly that is my main reason for the rating, and there were a few spelling errors that caught my eye.

Now for the parts that kept me reading.  My information issues aside, it was well written and did not jump back and forth.  You had no idea what was going on due to lack of information but not because the timeline was jumbled.  Another good thing about this book was I did not have to make myself finish it.  I was frustrated but it was good enough that I had to finish reading to see if I could get any information.

I would recommend this book, just because some people might actually enjoy it.  I did not enjoy it to the point where I will continue the series because at the end I just didn’t care about the why anymore.  It is not something that will keep me up at night wondering what is going to happen next.  I need some questions answered to continue, not just have a million questions and zero answers.  I realize to keep a series going the author can’t tell all the secrets from the beginning but I just didn’t get enough to want to keep reading.  By the end of the book I was over the suspense from the beginning and starting to get bored.
